Summer is a great time to bring flowers inside to enjoy.

Whether you buy them at the grocery store or cut them from your yard, flowers can always brighten your day.

But don’t you just hate it when you put them in your container and they just flop down over the sides??

Well there’s a couple of quick and easy tricks for keeping your flowers where you want them in your arrangements:

TIP #1:

CHICKEN WIRE

Chicken wire works great for keeping your stems in place in your summer flower arrangements.

Just cut a piece larger than your container.

Bend the edges down and put it in.

Now all you do is stick your flower stalks into the chicken wire and they’ll stay put.

See??… Quick and easy!

TIP #2

FLORAL TAPE

I learned this trick from a bouquet delivered to me from a florist. It works great for clear vases, jars and vessels where you don’t want to see what’s holding your flowers in place. Or containers that are too small for chicken wire.

Use 1/4 florist tape to make a grid across the top of your vase.

Make sure your container is dry around the outside of the rim. Stretch the tape tightly across the top and tape it about 1/2 inch down the outside.

That’s all there is to it!

Then just place your cut stems into the grid and you’re good to go! I think it works best if you put most of the stems into the four middle grids.

There’s nothing like fresh flowers to add a bright dose of summer to your space.

So look around your house and try to find interesting containers to put cut flowers in. Market baskets, vintage crates, hat boxes, china cups, gravy boats, sugar bowls — anything that will hold water or that you can put a water container into — would make a great summer flower arrangement.

And remember to use your chicken wire or floral tape grid to make it quick and easy!
