Tiny Bathroom Remodel

We finally finished Loren’s bathroom and she moved into her room a few weeks ago.

But our October has been crazy busywe had to make three out-of-town trips this month — so this is the first opportunity I’ve had to show you!

She loves her new bathroom — and it’s perfect for her!

The marble-topped vanity is really nice. The top ‘drawer’ is actually a drawer front that flips down to reveal a storage shelf.

The bottom drawer is U-shaped to accommodate the plumbing and has compartments to keep things organized.

The storage cabinet and shelves we built are on the wall opposite the vanity. Here’s another look at that.

You can see the post on how we made this here

For the mirror, we took the mirror off of an old medicine cabinet in another bathroom.

And added a frame we made out of simple molding.

It’s a nice way to up-cycle something you already have.

And at a huge savings! I shopped vanity mirrors and found that they can run anywhere from $50 to $100 and up. And the frames are usually made of cheap particle board or plastic.

The molding we used for this cost about $12. And it’s solid wood. Plus, we could customize it to the exact size we needed. You gotta love that!

The shower is in an alcove to the right of the commode. You can see the position of it in this ‘before’ shot.

It was a 4-piece-style fiberglass shower.

And here is the new spa-like tile shower…

We used 4 x 8 subway tile in matte white and ran it all the way to the ceiling. The floor and niche wall are Zen Paradise Orbitals color Beach Mix natural stone.

The vanity came with 3 pieces of marble backsplash and we only needed 2. So we used the leftover piece to make the niche shelf and the toe rest.

Super convenient for shaving your legs in the shower!

So here is a look at the bathroom before —

Outdated and very little storage.
