A Little Bit of Shiplap

(this post contains affiliate links)

Remember when I said

I’ll probably put just a little bit of shiplap in our house??

Well, I have a love/hate relationship with shiplap…

I love the look of it

But I hate that it’s so trendy

And it’s going to be out of style in about 5 minutes.

So when I make design decisions for our renovation

I’m choosing classic styles that will stand the test of time

And not make my house look dated in a couple of years.

(You can read more about that HERE and HERE)

But I really do love the look of horizontal planks on a wall…

So what could I do to have the best of both worlds?

Here’s a sneak peek of our media wall in the living room.

It’s not completely done yet

Because we’re waiting for the cabinet hardware to come

And Mr. Redoux still has to make the drawers.

But it turned out so beautiful that I couldn’t resist styling the shelves

And showing you just a little bit of it.

You can see that we covered the wall with horizontal planks

But it’s not exactly shiplap —

They’re V-groove tongue and groove wall planks.

They’re not as wide as shiplap and they have V-shaped grooves between each plank

That I think gives them more of a classic look and feel to this room.

I’m hoping it won’t be too long before this media wall is all done
