More Simple Decorating For Christmas

Years ago

I used to decorate my house for Christmas

with a tree in every room,

homemade fresh garland everywhere,

and branches with ribbons over every window.

It was so beautiful!

I would spend weeks putting it all up.

And then…

After a week or two

I was so over it!

I would be ready to take it all down

And it wasn’t even Christmas yet!

But now,

I like more simple decorating for Christmas.

Mostly because we’re in the middle of a reno

But also because I can live with simple subtle decor at least until December 25th!

Here are some of my best tips and tricks for more simple decorating for Christmas:

Gifts, candles and ornaments are all that’s needed on the media wall bookshelves. Get ideas for how to use your gifts as decor HERE and see how to make these wooden houses HERE.

And this little tree with dried eucalyptus branches tucked in gives just the right touch of greenery.

The deconstructed fireplace (‘deconstructed’ is code for: torn apart and unfinished) gets just a little something with a rag wreath, vintage ornaments strung on beaded fairy lights and candles in the firebox. (Click HERE for some great candle burning tips.)

And on the other side of the room is the armoire with more simple decorating for Christmas.

And the entryway greets guests with a simple garland, sign, stockings and greenery.

In the dining room, the buffet gets pops of color from vintage ornaments in crystal bowls. See the buffet before and after transformation HERE

This is decor that I’ve had up since November first (you have to start early when you’re a blogger!) and I’m not tired of it yet!
