9 Ideas For A Romantic Night At Home

(this post contains affiliate links)

I’m such a homebody — I love staying in!

I really would rather stay home than go out to a fancy restaurant.

But for special occasions

I want my space to feel special and fancy…

And I want to feel pampered and catered to.

So here’s my curated list of things that I use to make our romantic nights at home extra special.

And it’s all delivered right to my door —

It doesn’t get any easier than that!

FLOWERS

Of course, flowers!

Now, here in SoCal, we have flowers pretty much year-round, so all I have to do is go out in the yard and cut some. But I know that’s likely not the case with everyone else so here are some great options for you:

Of course, there’s always the traditional bouquet of roses to set the mood. But how about thinking a little outside the box and trying hydrangeas? Or maybe a live orchid or rose bush would be nice so you can enjoy them for much longer?

Then there’s rose petals… Real or faux, they add an element of romance to any setting. Sprinkle them on your table or pathway.

Or toss some real ones in your tub for a nice relaxing soak…

MUSIC

You’re going to want some music to set the tone for the night.

All you need is your playlist on your phone and a speaker

And instant romance!

I have both of these speakers and their sound quality is great! The Jabra is a perfect little portable and the Bose is… well, it’s a Bose!

So, you wanna know who I have on my ‘romance’ playlist?? It’s pretty eclectic…

There’s Taylor Swift, Ashley McBryde, The Righteous Brothers, Eric Church, Heart, Journey, Bob Dylan, A Thousand Horses, Simon & Garfunkel, Adele, Lady A and Gin Blossoms just to name a few. Then there’s a few guilty pleasures from Meat Loaf, Bee Gees, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap and Glen Campbell. (Those are a little harder to admit! Like I said — guilty pleasures — what can I say…)

CANDLES

Nothing’s more romantic than candlelight!

Here are some pretty candle ideas for a romantic night:

"

Use a variety of different finishes, sizes and heights of candle holders for a romantic, eclectic look on your table or in the fireplace. (And put them all around the room as well.) Thrift stores and estate sales are also a great place to find candlesticks at great prices!

SCENTS

Don’t forget your favorite scent for setting the mood!

"

Perfume, scented candles and food are just a few ways to make your home smell delicious.

BTW: If you like vanilla scents, The Healthy Fragrance Lavanilla perfume is amazing! It doesn’t smell super sweet like cake or sugar cookies — it’s just a fresh vanilla bean scent.

COZY THROWS

There’s nothing like snuggling under a comfy throw on the sofa with your honey.

These faux fur throws are really soft. And they’re extra large for snuggling!

FOOT MASSAGE CREAM

Okay, now that you’re all relaxed and snuggly…

How about a foot massage??

ROMANTIC MOVIE

Sometimes a quiet night at home is the best time for a romantic movie

From My Heart Will Go On, to ‘Nobody puts Baby in the corner’…

Here are some great classic romantic movie options

GOOD FOOD

Dinner from your favorite restaurant to your door is just a phone call away

"

Set an intimate table or picnic on the floor next to the fireplace

And linger over the meal you didn’t have to cook.

GOODIES

Save room for dessert!

What’s a romantic night without chocolate??

(I’ve included Hu Chocolate in case you’re into ‘clean’ dark chocolate. I love the Salty Dark Chocolate Bar!)

So these are some ideas for a romantic night at home that Mr. Redoux and I like to use.

And we’ve found that sometimes we love staying home on special occasions

Because in the 45 years we’ve been married,

We’ve come to realize

That it’s not as much about where you are

As it is who you’re with.
