How To Create A Cozy Room

I know it’s been Fall for a little while now

But we don’t really get much of a change in seasons here in Southern California

And it’s been pretty warm here lately

Like in the 80’s warm!

So it’s been feeling like summer here

And I haven’t really been very motivated to ‘cozy it up’ for Fall just yet

But this morning it actually rained!

And for the last couple of mornings, there’s been a little more chill in the air than usual

So now I’m really ready to cozy up my bedroom!

It doesn’t really take much to create a cozy room

All you need are a few key pieces

And you’re good to go!

So here are some of my favorite ways to add a super comfy feel to the bedroom :

DOUBLE-STUFF YOUR DUVET COVER

Put two down or down-alternative fills inside your duvet cover.

This will make your bed so super lofty and cozy looking you’ll want to just snuggle right into it. Not to mention it’ll give you extra warmth for the chilly nights ahead.

COZY THROWS

Nothing says ‘cozy room’ like throws and blankets

Just toss a textured throw on your bed, chair or sofa and you’ve just added a ton of warmth to the room.

And they’re right there waiting for you to snuggle up on a chilly Fall night

Or display all your throws, blankets and comforters to add tons of softness and warmth to your decor

You can use an armoire or a hutch or an open cabinet or even a bookshelf like I did here to display your blankets and comforters

PILLOWS

Pillows are the perfect way to add texture, color and style to your decor

Use chunky knit and heavily textured pillows to add a warm comfy vibe to your room

CANDLES

Don’t forget how much ambiance candles bring to the bedroom

They not only cast lovely light patterns everywhere, they also appeal to your sense of smell. So choose candles in scents that are relaxing and soothing to your soul

COZY TEXTURES

Grapevine wreaths, topiaries, wicker, chippy paint, pine cones….

These are all textures that will give your room personality and add to the comfy cozy mood…

PS I couldn’t resist adding just a tiny touch of Christmas by sticking just a few sprigs of juniper into the wreath above the bed in this cozy room

So I hope you’re inspired to make your bedroom (or every room in your house!) a place where you’ll feel comfy
