Bookshelf With Storage

This bookshelf has had a lot of different looks since we gave it a makeover and put it in my office a couple of years ago.

(You can read the story behind the makeover HERE)

I’ve always used it for storing my sewing supplies.

And often it was home to dead and dying plants…

And sometimes I stored linens in it…

But the other day, when I was dragging my craft supply bin down off of the 4-foot high shelf in the closet, I thought, maybe there’s a better use for this bookshelf.

Here’s what my craft bin looks like

It was a mess! And it was heavy, awkward and hard to get down off the shelf in the closet.

So I went and bought some baskets. (I took my shelf sizes with me so I knew what would fit.)

Then I brought them home and arranged them on the shelves the way I wanted them. (I keep my sewing supplies in the linen boxes so those stayed where they were.)

Next, I cleaned out my supplies and threw away anything I didn’t need.

And then I started putting things in the baskets.

I put the glue guns and glue sticks in one basket…

I put the craft paint in another basket…

You get the picture…

Then I accessorized just a little

And when I was all done

Everything was organized, tidy and in lightweight containers

So now when I need paint, or twine or the glue gun…

it’s so easy to just grab and go!

Next I’m doing the pantry…

Then the linen closet…

Then the bathroom…
