This boho throw pillow I made came out pretty cute.

It was so easy to do and it makes a great gift!

I started with this textured throw from Amazon

The color is described as ‘white’ but it’s really not white at all. It’s definitely more ‘natural’ colored. So I tossed it in the washer with hot water and about 2 cups of bleach.

I let it soak for a couple of hours. Every half hour or so, I would agitate it for about a minute just to make sure it was bleaching evenly. Then I ran it through the whole wash cycle and dried it in the dryer.

And it came out nice and white!

So to make your boho throw pillow, follow these easy steps:

  1. Cut 2 pieces of the throw solid fabric about an inch larger than your pillow form (my form measured 32 by 16)

2. Use one of the solid pieces as a pattern to cut out a piece of the textured part of the throw.

You want the open areas of the throw to be centered on the pillow. Also. make sure that the fringe hangs out below the bottom of the pillow piece.

3. Layer the fabric pieces together

(You have three pieces because you need a solid piece behind the open-textured front piece so the pillow form isn’t visible.) Pin the 3 pieces together with the textured piece in the middle, leaving the bottom (where the fringe is) open.

4. Sew around the top and both sides. (You can always glue it together with fabric glue or use iron-on seam tape instead of sewing if you like)

5. Trim the corners

To eliminate bulk, trim the corners at an angle being careful not to get too close to the stitching.

6. Turn your pillow right side out with the textured part in the front and insert your pillow form from the bottom.

7. Pin the two solid pieces together at the bottom to sew the pillow closed.

Tuck the raw edges in about 1/2 inch on each side and pin the opening closed making sure to leave the fringed piece loose.

8. Sew or glue the opening closed

If you’re sewing the bottom closed, pull the pillow form over as far as you can to make the bottom seam flat to fit into your machine and sew it closed. You can also sew it closed by hand (or glue it).

9. Sew the fringed piece to the bottom of the pillow.

Smooth the front textured piece down over the pillow and pin it to the bottom seam you just sewed. Sew it to the seam from the back side along the stitching you just made, making sure the fringe hangs free. (If you’re gluing, use glue for this step rather than sewing)

And that’s it!
